Private multiplayer needs a small amount of player data. Here is exactly what the game stores, where it goes, and when it is deleted.

The short version

There is no Shotgames account, advertising, tracking, or analytics. The game uses Apple’s Game Center for player identity and friends, and iCloud (CloudKit) to carry private games between players. Voice imitations are short and deleted automatically.

Data used to run the game

  • Your game-specific Game Center player ID and nickname.
  • Voice imitations of up to 20 seconds, plus votes, game names, chat messages, reactions, and your Ref of the Day.
  • Your player profile: level, XP, results, streak, discoveries, avatar, frame, title, and color.
  • Reports you send or that concern you: the item, reason, date, and optional details.

The app does not collect your email address, phone number, real name, contacts, location, or advertising identifier.

Where it is stored and who can see it

Game data is stored in the game’s iCloud database, operated by Apple for Shotgames, and on players’ iPhones. Players in a game hear its imitations after the reveal and can read its chat. Game Center friends can hear a Ref of the Day only after submitting their own. Shotgames can access reported content for moderation. CloudKit game data is not end-to-end encrypted between players.

How long it is kept

  • Round audio: 24 hours after the round results.
  • Finished game data: 3 hours after the game ends without activity.
  • Unfinished game data: 7 days without activity.
  • Ref of the Day audio and reactions: 24 hours after that day ends.
  • Downloaded audio cache on the iPhone: up to 3 days. Player content still present after 30 days is removed by periodic cleanup.

Your profile remains until you delete your data. Reports are kept only as needed for moderation, safety, and handling removal requests.

Your choices and deletion

The microphone is used only while you record, and a take is uploaded only when you send it. In Settings, “Delete my recordings and data” removes your recordings, votes, messages, game memberships, Ref of the Day, profile, and progression from iCloud and the iPhone, and cancels games you host. If you no longer have the app, contact us with your Game Center nickname.

Safety and minors

You can report an imitation, message, or reference and block a player. Reports are reviewed by a person and may lead to content removal or suspension from online play. The game is not intended for children; players under 15 should ask a parent before playing online. Apple Screen Time restrictions apply.

Apple services and changes

Apple processes Game Center, iCloud, App Store distribution, and any related device information under Apple’s privacy policy. Material changes to this policy will be announced in the app and published here with a new date.
